One of the main components of the Suzuki approach (which really works for other students and adults as well) is repeated listening of the pieces being learned. In the Suzuki repertoire, there is no substitute for the reference recordings that are available with the books. In this technological age it is also very helpful to see the piece being played and see the bowing, style, etc. I have created a Youtube channel where you can do that! My channel currently has all of the pieces in Suzuki Violin Books 1 - 8, and Suzuki Viola Books 1 - 6, as well as a few other pieces and exercises that I use. Most of the pieces in the first several books have an up to tempo video to see how the piece goes, and then a slower video that would allow the student to play along. These are currently non - narrated but that may change in the future.
You can access my channel in many places on this site, or go to Youtube and look for Mike Hall Violin in the search (except I do have viola videos too). There are playlists of the various Suzuki books on the channel. Another way is to click on the book you need over to the right or on the drop down menu. That will take you to a list on this site, where you can click on the piece and it will take you to that Youtube video.
